Fully-funded PhD Position in Cryptography

The Cryptography group at University of Vienna is searching for a motivated PhD candidate to join our team. We develop new security definitions which match practical applications, explore complexity-theoretic relations, develop novel, sophisticated proof techniques, and design schemes that provably satisfy strong security guarantees. Hence, strong mathematics skills are advantageous and arguing by formal mathematical proofs is essential. Besides research (including attendance and presentation at workshops and conferences), the candidate will be involved in a small amount of teaching, according to the university regulations. The position is fully funded for 4 years with a competitive salary and available from September 2025; the exact starting date is negotiable. For eligibility, an MSc degree in Computer Science or Mathematics (or a related field) is required.
