The Position
For the position of Head of Strategy & Sustainability a pivotal role will be appointed to advance the substantive, conceptual, and operational development of the corporate strategy, overseeing M&A and ESG projects, with a clear mandate to drive sustainable transformation.
This function directly supports the top executive level in steering the company's strategic direction – with a strong focus on sustainable, profitable growth and the achievement of climate neutrality.
Acting as a strategic interface to the CEO the position plays a central role in preparing, structuring, and following up on critical decision-making processes – both at executive management and supervisory board level. The emphasis is firmly on sustainable value creation, operational efficiency, and future-oriented corporate governance.
The role requires the ability to rapidly grasp complex strategic topics, translate them into structured decision-making frameworks, and demonstrate a high level of initiative, diplomatic skill, discretion, and executional capability, combined with a quick understanding of interconnected issues.
Core Responsibilities :
- Substantive and organizational support to the CEO in further developing and implementing the corporate and sustainability strategy
- Analysis of strategic fields of action and development of targeted initiatives aligned with the ESG objectives, the Executive Committee, the Management Board, and the Supervisory Board
- Structured coordination of decision documents, strategy papers, and presentations for the Management Board, Executive Committee, Supervisory Board, and other governance bodies
- Coordination and follow-up of strategic meetings and planning formats (e.G., Strategy Reviews, Plant Strategy Meetings)
- Development of comprehensive business cases – including the analysis and evaluation of Mergers, Acquisitions, and Divestments, with actionable recommendations for top management
- Active support in steering strategic projects – including M&A transactions, adjustments to the international footprint, or post-merger integrations – with full accountability for monitoring, reporting, and rigorous follow-up on all relevant measures

Skill Set / Qualifications :
The ideal candidate is a proactive and results-oriented professional with a strong sense of ownership and the drive to turn ideas into reality.University degree in economics, engineering, or natural sciences10+ years of relevant professional experience in strategy consulting and / or a comparable role in corporate strategy, sustainability, or strategic project management – ideally with experience across both areasStrong analytical skills, entrepreneurial mindset, and a genuine commitment to sustainability topicsProven ability to distill complex subject matter into clear, actionable insights;high self-motivation combined with a structured, results-oriented approach
Strong business acumen – ability to understand complex economic interrelations and to drive strategic decisions with a focus on value creation and sustainable growthExcellent communication skills in English (written and spoken);German language skills are an asset
