Cancer Council SA is South Australia’s leading independent, cancer-related, non-government organisation. Since 1928, Cancer Council SA has worked resolutely across every aspect of every cancer, from prevention and research to support and advocacy. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Executive Leadership Team of Cancer Council SA as their General Manager People, Safety & Culture.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the General Manager People, Safety & Culture is responsible for providing strategic leadership to all staff and volunteers whilst building a strong collaborative team culture to meet the current and future organisational needs. This role actively promotes diversity and inclusivity in the workplace whilst ensuring a safe work environment for staff, volunteers and contractors by implementing sound WHS policies and practices and driving positive safety and wellbeing outcomes. The General Manager will lead the Human Resources function, including industrial relations, payroll, workforce planning, organisational development, and retention strategies. This role will also focus on volunteer management, overseeing recruitment, training, and retention strategies for volunteers. Other key responsibilities include contributing to Board meetings, serving as the Executive Lead for the Nomination, Remuneration and Governance sub-committee, and collaborating on a Federation level to drive organisational outcomes.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Cancer Council SA is seeking a collaborative leader with demonstrated experience in human resources, safety functions, and volunteer management. This role requires excellent written and verbal communication, advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills, and the ability to collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
