Software Architect – Mountain

We’re looking for a Software Architect to accelerate the evolution of our mountain access solutions, tackling legacy systems and shaping new ways forward. What You’ll Do

  • Take Technical Ownership : Define and continuously evolve the architecture roadmap for our Summit product – the foundation of mountain access systems.
  • Be a Change Agent : Guide a highly experienced and close-knit development team through a cultural and technical shift toward modern software practices.
  • Build Bridges : Improve collaboration, feedback, and shared accountability.
  • Document and Structure : Establish clear, reliable technical documentation - your structure will be the backbone of future development.
  • Provide Technical Guidance : Act as a senior expert by mentoring developers, sharing best practices, and ensuring alignment with SKIDATA’s architectural standards.
  • Stay Hands-On : Develop alongside the team when needed – this is not an ivory tower role.

What You Bring

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in architecture or senior design roles.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft technologies (.NET / C#), SQL databases (ideally Microsoft SQL Server), and web technologies.
  • Solid understanding of modern software design principles.
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems and improving code testability.
  • Deep knowledge of software security best practices (e.g., encryption, authentication).
  • Agile mindset and hands-on experience with methods like Scrum or Kanban.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills – including mentoring and giving constructive feedback.
  • Fluency in English and at least B2-level proficiency in German are required.

The minimum salary for this position according to the collective agreement is EUR 3,139.00 gross per month on a full-time basis. Of course, your actual salary will be adjusted in line with the market based on your qualifications.
