Postdoctoral Researcher

The IHS – Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna is a leading non-university research institute that creates empirically based knowledge on significant economic and social challenges of our time. It deli­vers excellent applied basic research and impartial scientific policy advice, combining economic and social science perspectives. IHS is looking to fill the following position in the newly established Competence Center Survey Research.

Postdoctoral Researcher (f / m / d, 35h / week)

As a researcher at IHS, you will be part of a research unit that conducts and coordinates scientific surveys, provides consultation on survey design and offers data services. You will be involved in survey research and actively contribute to the development of the unit.

About you

• You hold a Doctoral degree in economics, sociology, statistics, data science, or a related field, and aim at a career in policy-oriented applied research
• You have a strong background in quantitative research methods, survey design and analysis; experience in designing, analyzing, and managing large-scale surveys is a plus
• You are strongly proficient in programming (e.g. Stata, R, SPSS, Python, Matlab)
• You have excellent communication skills in both German and English

Your responsibilities

What IHS offers

The minimum monthly salary for the advertised position is € 4,919.45 gross for a 35-hour week, paid 14 times per year. The position is to be filled in spring 2026. The initial contract period is 3 years, with the possibility of an extension upon successful internal evaluation.
