On behalf of our client – a globally active investment firm with offices in the United States and Europe and several billion USD in assets under management – we are currently searching for a Director of Human Resources to join their Vienna office . The firm operates at the intersection of high finance and technology, with an English-speaking culture and a strong performance-driven environment. The ideal candidate is an experienced, tech-savvy HR leader who thrives in fast-paced, international settings.
Your Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic and operational HR partner to senior leadership across Vienna and New York
- Take full ownership of the end-to-end recruiting process – from outreach to onboarding and retention
- Build and manage a talent database and maintain long-term engagement with high-potential candidates
- Create an exceptional candidate experience , ensuring consistent communication and engagement
- Work closely with universities and networks (CEMS, WU, St. Gallen, HEC, Bocconi, etc.) to attract top talent
- Manage local HR operations in Vienna, including one admin team member
- Ensure compliance with Austrian and US labor law
- Lead HR initiatives for approx. 60 employees globally, including performance and compensation topics
- Leverage modern HR tools (e.g. Greenhouse, HRIS) and drive the digitalization of HR processes
- Collaborate on creative recruiting strategies (e.g. job ads with entry challenges or gamified elements)
Requirements
Your Profile
5+ years of experience in HR leadership roles, ideally in international or fast-growing organizationsStrong knowledge of Austrian labor law ; experience with US employment frameworks is a plusProven experience in recruiting, people development, compensation, and cultural initiativesTech-savvy mindset and ability to interact with highly analytical, tech-minded teamsNatural curiosity and eagerness to experiment with new technologies and toolsExcellent communication skills, emotional intelligence, and discretionHunter mentality” – hands-on, pragmatic, and driven by resultsStructured, reliable and proactive personality who thrives on ownership and autonomyFull professional fluency in German and EnglishBenefits
