A research position in accordance with § 99 (5) of the 2002 Universitätsgesetz (according to § 27 of the collective agreement for the University employees - Uni-KV) at the Chair of Mining Engineering and Mineral Economics in the Department of Mineral Resources Engineering is open to be filled at the earliest date - Reference Number : 2310WPD
At the Montanuniversitaet Leoben, the Chair of Mining Engineering and Mineral Economics is seeking to fill a career position according to § 99(5) of the 2002 UG (The Austrian universities’ fast track programme for high potential scientists to a full professor position ) at of the earliest possible date in a permanent employment relationship.
The classification is based on the collective agreement for employees of the universities in salary group A2. In this classification, the collective agreement monthly salary for full employment is € 5.124,20 gross (14 times a year).
The applicant should represent the research field of rock mechanics and underground mining in all relevant areas of the Montanuniversitaet Leoben - in teaching, research and transfer, and work on and deepen the field independently. Teaching in the bachelor's and master's programs is expected.
Requirements for employment are as follows :
A domestic or equivalent foreign university education appropriate to the job with a focus on mining engineering or rock mechanics, and a doctorate or PhD study completed with very good results. Experience in cooperative projects between science and industry in the above-mentioned research areas, i.e. in rock mechanics, underground mine design and production technologies and a passion to advance underground mining in the context of sustainability, i.e. safety, environmental footprint and digitalisation. Experience abroad and / or readiness for a stay abroad and in scientific teaching as well as didactic and pedagogical skills (with proven further education in the field of didactics). A track record of relevant scientific publications and / or management qualifications such as project management, budget responsibility and people leadership. Very good knowledge of spoken and written English and basic German skills (or at least the willingness to learn the language quickly).
In particular, the person is expected to have the following skills and responsibilities :
Active engagement in teaching, developing and managing application-oriented research with industrial companies and managing successful research proposals within European and Austrian research programmes. Willingness to participate appropriately in university organizational and administrative tasks, supervision of bachelor's and master's students as well as doctoral candidates.
