Job Description
The Medical Lead (ML) will be responsible for driving strategic country medical activities in Austria in alignment with regional initiatives and the Global Medical Plan. The ML will proactively manage medical scientific stakeholders and create value for patients through medical and scientific stakeholder engagement, medical scientific projects and scientific communications. The ML will independently initiate planned medical activities, including scientific presentations, discussion of clinical data and programs, presentation of medical value proposition concepts and educational programs. This will require the ML to identify, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with KOLs and medical scientific experts.
The ML will deliver high quality medical and scientific communication externally as well as internally in line with defined plans. The ML will provide field feedback as appropriate through dynamic stakeholder engagement and support the local organization in the development of medical tactics and provide input to regional plans if necessary.
ML activities include medical scientific leadership and responsibility for pharmacovigilance, medical information, healthcare compliance as well as the medical affairs support of marketed products and post approval development activities within Global Brands.
Scope of the job :
Including, but not limited to the following
- Recruitment, management and development of staff in the Austria medical department.
- Lead the development and execution of the medical strategy for nephrology and hematology, aligning with the overall organizational goals and objectives.
- Provide expert scientific guidance and support to internal teams, including research and development, clinical operations, and regulatory affairs.
- Plans and allocate affiliates Global Brands medical department resources.
- Identify, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with KOLs, scientific experts and other medical scientific stakeholders. Ensure high standard of professionalism to develop and maintain “peer-to-peer” scientific relationship with KOLs.
- Collaborate with medical affairs teams to develop and deliver medical education programs, scientific presentations, and publications to disseminate key findings and advancements in hemophilia treatment.
- Create and execute stakeholder engagement plans, according to Sobi’s high standards.
- Support country hemophilia and specialty care team in developing local medical tactics and provide input to HQ / regional plans if relevant.
- Support / Organization of scientific advisory boards with the appropriate key stakeholders.
- Attend relevant local, regional and global congresses and symposia to represent Sobi and interact with appropriate stakeholders and customers.
- Provide local and regional feedback to HQ when performing Business Development Due Diligence.
- Coordinate medical information enquiries in collaboration with HQ in Stockholm.
- Represent the scientific interests in internal and external forums and interact with KOLs at, eg. Hospitals, patient associations and other Non-Governmental Organizations within the therapeutic area.
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with scientific societies and central decision makers at relevant local health authorities.
- Provide advice to the organization and management on medical matters and their legal implications.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific developments, treatment guidelines, and industry trends in nephrology and hematology to continuously improve medical practices and strategies.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and management of clinical trials and studies related to nephrology and hematology, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- May act as PSP owner.
Qualifications
Required :
University degree in medical / science or other relevant field that allows working according to local (Austria) requirements and or +3 years of direct experience in the pharmaceutical industryPreferably hands on experience within hematology or orphan drugsExperience from an international LifeScience organizationExperience with new products, pre-launch and launch activities, planning and strategy executionPreferably experience from nephrology / hematology medical affairs, medical / clinical science, clinical development, access and health economyIn-depth knowledge of national healthcare systems and practicesAbility to create and network with KOLs at national levelKnowledge of national healthcare system and decision making, including regulatory, safety, legal and complianceExperience in communicating and building relations with authoritiesUnderstanding of pricing, regulatory processes and decision-making processes on different marketsFluency in German and English.Proficient user of modern IT and office softwareDesired :
