The Commercial Director - Edible Nuts will be responsible for leading the global procurement, origination, and commercial development of the Edible Nuts division. The role requires a deep understanding of commodity supply chains, strong sourcing networks across origins, and the ability to secure competitive, sustainable supply while optimizing profitability and risk exposure. This is a senior strategic role with end-to-end responsibility — from supplier relationship management and contract negotiation to market execution and divisional performance.
Procurement & Origination Strategy
- Develop and execute the global sourcing strategy for key edible nut categories (almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, walnuts, pistachios, etc.).
- Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers and processors across major origins (Asia, Africa, South America, Europe).
- Negotiate long‑term supply contracts and seasonal procurement programs ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and reliability.
- Build strong partnerships with growers, processors, and exporters to secure sustainable and traceable supply chains.
- Monitor origin markets, crop forecasts, and price trends to anticipate supply risks and optimize purchasing decisions.
Commercial Development & Sales Coordination
Align procurement strategy with sales and trading objectives to ensure competitive market positioning and margin protection.Support the sales teams with accurate costings, origin insights, and product availability to maximize profitability and service quality.Collaborate with logistics, quality, and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of contracts and delivery schedules.Develop and manage annual procurement budgets, pricing models, and margin forecasts.Supplier Relationship & Quality Management
Establish and maintain long‑term supplier partnerships based on transparency, performance, and mutual growth.Oversee supplier evaluations, quality standards, and compliance with sustainability and food safety requirements.Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance quality, efficiency, and traceability.Risk & Performance Management
Ensure all procurement activities adhere to internal risk management, compliance, and sustainability frameworks.Coordinate with finance, risk, and treasury teams to manage exposure, credit limits, and payment terms.Monitor and report divisional P&L, procurement performance metrics, and contribution to overall business results.Leadership & Strategic Growth
Build and lead a high‑performing procurement and origination team across multiple geographies.Define clear KPIs, ensure operational excellence, and drive team capability development.Contribute to the long‑term strategic growth of the company's Edible Nuts division through new origin development, supplier diversification, and process optimization.Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Economics, Agribusiness, or related fieldli>Minimum 8‑10 years of experience in edible nuts trading or broader agri‑commodities (almonds, cashews, walnuts, etc.).Proven track record in P&L management, sales leadership, and international trading.Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision‑making skills.Excellent communication in English and German;additional languages (e.G., German, Spanish, or French) are an asset.
